For the seventh year in a row, the Pineapple Gang’s Gloucester cod fishing charter aboard Tuna Hunter was a big success.

The entire family are great anglers, and certainly know how to have a great time. No messing around here. It was serious fishing: as soon as we reached the fishing grounds, jigs hit the water.  Fish hit jigs more than bait, as has been the usual lately.

This year the team amassed a boatload of fish, cod, haddock and a large cusk.  Yes, cusk are good eating.
We look forward to sharing a day with these guys each year.

While we were cod fishing last weekend, the bluefin tuna action remains strong. Bluefin of varying sizes are all over, being taken by kite, balloons, live and ead bait,  some of jigs even. So be prepared for anything! 

Inshore the striped bass fishing is good, despite the commercial season. Tuna Hunter’s evening bass charters have been particularly successful.  It was great to host the Arasian family again this week – with Dad again taking top fish. Photos coming!

The last trip for this crew they landed two giant bluefin tuna   (see photo on our Facebook page).  So of course we are happy to have these guys, and their luck, return for a cod & haddock fishing charter aboard Tuna Hunter.

A gorgeous day, good company, and great cod fishing made for a good time for all. No hugies on this trip, but steady action of keeper cod, limiting out by the end of the day.

We look forward to fishing with these guys in a month or two, when the bluefin arrive. Bluefin tuna fishing is right around the corner! And, we already have Striped Bass in Gloucester, so get ready for Gloucester striped bass charters – call soon for your date.  Good fishing to you!

This year’s annual “Nick the Real Estate Guy” Tuna Hunter fishing charter was not productive as a Gloucester tuna fishing charter, but did turn out to be a productive cod & haddock fishing charter .

Always a good time, always good fishing and great to see good friends keep in touch through the years.  As for this year’s fishing, cod was strong, but the bluefin eluded us, though conditions looked good in the morning with jumping bluefin in several areas. We had live bait, the baits looked great sitting beneath the kite, all systems were go – just no hungry stupid tuna took the bait.  That’s fishing!

To wrap up the day, we switched gears to do some bottom fishing, and quickly were into sizeable cod, haddock and pollock and cusk. 

Bluefin tuna are here in force, in all sizes.  Tuna Hunter will be fishing through October for bluefin tuna , stripers and cod & haddock.  As the tuna action heats up, dates are filling in.  You should be then next one hooked up!

It’s hard to believe, but the bottom fishing just keeps getting better on Stellwagen and Jeffries. Sand ells abound.  Bluefin tuna fishing is in full swing, with tuna of all sizes in the area.  Inshore striped bass action is in full swing.

Bubba’s Boys had an awesome day aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters, limiting out of cod early in the day and continuing to catch and release hefty cod to 25 pounds throughout the afternoon.

Tuna Hunter put Bubba’s Boys right on the meat, employing norwegian jigs with a mix of clams thrown in. This combination held for the entire day with only minor adjustments needed. An awesome crew, Bubba’s Boys had good arms to fish hard all day long.

Cod Fishing like this makes one want to fish every day!

These guys from Southboro spent an afternoon on Tuna Hunter loading up on codfish. This inshore spot is great for a quick getaway when time is short for going out to Stellwagen or Jeffries. Key thing was to get the family together for an afternoon on the water. The usual bait and jigs apply.

Another advantage of this inshore spot is the possibility for stripers. Unfortunately this day the striped bass were elsewhere – No worries, it was early, and we know those stripers will arrive in this spot in force any day now.

Out on the bank, giant stripers – to 30 pounds – are strolling through. Cod and haddock fishing is and will remain strong for the season.

Bluefin tuna fishing is underway, with anglers seeing and catching more bluefin each day, including giants.
