Tuna Hunter participated in the 2015 BOMA Fishing Tournament out of Rowes Wharf in Boston, MA.
Congratulations to June who boated this beautiful 41.5 inch, 26 pound striped bass, the winning fish for Top Female Angler.
A great time was had by all – though perhaps June was the happiest, holder her winning fish. We were all excited about this striper – kudos to June for angling this beauty to the boat.
The BOMA Tournament marks the beginning of sizable striped bass in the Boston and north shore waters. “Hugies” like this are moving into Cape Ann waters of of Gloucester and the surrounding islands as summer weather and warmer water temperatures settle in.
Treat your new graduate to a fishing charter, or treat the whole family to a Father’s Day outing on the water. Call Tuna Hunter at 978-407-1351 or email email@example.com for our latest openings.
Congratulations June and all the 2015 BOMA winners, and Good fishing to all!

As of May 1, the recreational haddock rules covering Tuna Hunter and all charter vessels in MA fishing in the Gulf of Maine (the aters off the MA coast north of Cape Cod) are:
- 3 haddock per person
- 21 inch minimum
This is from the latest notice from the MA Division of Marine Fisheries. Read the full notice here.
From that notice note:
- A dual-permitted (state and federal) for-hire vessel fishing in state or federal waters and landing in Massachusetts is bound by a combination of the most restrictive rules: 3 fish and 21” minimum size. The vessel cannot catch or possess GOM haddock from state or federal waters during March, April, September, and October.
- A private recreational angler fishing entirely or in part in federal waters and landing in Massachusetts is bound by a combination of the most restrictive rules: 3 fish and 21” minimum size. The angler cannot catch or possess GOM haddock from federal waters during March, April, September, and October.
The MA Division of MarineFisheries (MA DMF) is currently accepting public comment and will be holding a public hearing on Thursday, May 28 on changing the state GOM haddock recreational rules. For more information on how to submit comment or the timing of the public hearing, refer this MA DMF Advisory.
Bottom line: 3 haddock per person. Unlimited pollock. unitl further notice.

Patience and determination pays off, as Jess lands his fish of a lifetime – a 680 lb bluefin tuna aboard Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters.
Landing a giant bluefin tuna
is not an every-day event. When the fish are biting, and your captain knows his stuff and uses top-notch equipment and tackle, it produces fine bluefin like this beauty. This guy took a downlline on live bait.
There are many more like these to come this year – join Tuna Hunter for your fish of a lifetime, you deserve it! 978-407-1351 or email@example.com to reserve.

The Hook, Line and Sinker bachelor party aboard Tuna Hunter yielded a great time for all, and a bluefin tuna in the boat.
Gloucester tuna fishing is in full swing now, with bluefin of all sizes Tuna Hunter uses a combination of kite fishing, speed jigs, balloons and sometimes trolling. In short, we have an arsenal of techniques and a ready to use whatever fish are responding to for the day’s conditions. This often means switching things up throughout the day, and using several techniques at once.
On the Hook, Line and Sinker success, the bluefin hit a balloon, passing up gorgeous kit bait – go figure. The fish hit on the Matsuura reel, making for a smooth angling experience. The Hook Line and Sinker team reeled the bluefin to the boat, where he measured just legal to take home.
A good omen – land a bluefin and bring home sushi on your bachelor party! Best wishes to Tim and his bride!
- Gloucester tuna fishing will only get better form now through October. Call 978-407-1351 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for our latest openings. We look forward to hooking you into a nice Charlie.

Pavel and Anatoly had an unforgettable day cod fishing charter out of Gloucester, MA aboard the Tuna Hunter. They waited out the week for a break in the weather and it proved worth the wait – sun shining, decent seas and a good cod bite – what more can one ask for! A boatful of fish? Yup, got that too.
Gloucester cod fishing is in full swing – rain or shine, the cod and haddock are hitting on jigs and bait, making for full coolers and plenty of food for the family and friends. Gloucester Striped Bass fishing is heating up – fish to 35 inches have been taken both inside and outside of the harbor, so plan now for those striper charters. Call 978-407-1351 or email email@example.com to reserve your fishing charter. Good fishing!

Happy New Year 2011 to all!
We hope you are having a calm, restful winter, aside from snow shoveling.
With all this snow, Tuna Hunter reminds you that spring is around the corner – two more months, and Tuna Hunter will be in the water for spring cod and haddock fishing.
We are taking reservations now for April fishing charters. Gloucester cod fishing opens April 15, and we aim to be there for a fresh start to a new season, and if nothing else to get away from all the snow onshore.
Good fishing to all – Captain Gary & Karen

Did we mention striped bass fishing off of Gloucester is going strong this year? The Holden family has a productive striped bass charter with Tun Hunter last weekend. It sure is nice to catch fish too big to hold!
Striped bass and bluefish action is prime right now – there are mackerel in the harbor and around the cape, with striped bass, bluefish and even bluefin tuna pushing them. Can’t miss with that kind of action. There is a lot of good fishing in a half-day charter, you deserve it!

The Ingalls crew had a great day tuna fishing on Tuna Hunter.
Some may think June is too early for bluefin tuna but these guys can attest otherwise.
This bluefin tuna was taken on the troll – a great hit and a fun fight.
We look forward to future tuna fishing by Kite and jigging – see our Kite Fishing page for more information.
Bluefin Tuna are here! It seems a few more giants are taken each week, and that report changes daily.
